Your holiday features Humpback Whale, Whale Shark and Manta Ray diving. This extreme Mega Marine holiday start in Johannesburg, South Africa, where you will board a flight to Inhambane, Mozambique. From here you are transferred to your first diving destination, Zavora.

After checking into your rustic and budget-friendly dive resort cabin, take time out to enjoy the pristine white sandy beaches right at your doorstep. Be sure to take it easy though as your diving starts tomorrow!

Days 2 and 3 bring you to your first Mozambiqan dive adventure. Each day you will do a double tank dive on the pristine reefs that is a maximum depth of 18 meters. Look out for several species of turtles and potato base as you scuba the reefs in between Manta ray sightings. Zavora is well known for its shallow and untouched Manta ray cleaning stations.

During the peak whale season of August and September, you will have a chance to get up close and personal with the gentle Humpback Whale. They may be gentle but remember to keep a safe distance!

On day 4 you will do another 2 scuba dives before departing to Praia do Tofo. You are now in the Whale Shark Mecca of Africa. Explore the white sandy beaches of Tofo after checking into your luxury lodge.

Days 5 to 8 brings two adrenaline rushing dives per day. Have you ever swam with a giant Manta Ray? Now is your chance! These magnificent creatures have a wingspan of up to 6 meters! Manta Reef is famed for its three Manta Ray cleaning stations as well as its stunning terrain, making it a perfect setting for photography and study. With a visibility of 20 meters (65 feet) or greater and a depth of 26 meters (85 feet), this dive is best suited to expert divers with drift experience. Because of the abundance of marine life, it is a very popular destination. Manta Point and its deep-sea cleaning station are a little further on. The gullies, overhangs, and ledges will appeal to advanced divers.

Day 9 finally brings your Whale Shark Snorkel Safari. These majestic creatures frequent the Praia do Tofo bay and on some days up to 10 Whale Sharks can be seen! As you sit on the dive boat, kitted in snorkel gear, be ready to slip into the water at a moments notice to swim along with these giant animals. No need to fear though! Whale Sharks are completely harmless to humans.

On day 10 we greet you as you are transferred to the Inhambane airport and catch your flight back to Johannesburg International Airport. This is where your tour ends.

Day 1: Arrive in Inhambane, Mozambique

Fly from Johannesburg, South Africa to Inhambane, Mozambique. You will be met at the airport by a local guide and transferred by road for 90 minutes taking in the sights and the sounds on Inhambane as you venture to the remote resort of Zavora. On arrival at Zavora resort, you will check into a rustic yet comfortable log style chalet. This one bedroomed on-suite chalet will be your home for the next 3 nights. Meals will be enjoyed at the lodge restaurant which is only a few steps from your chalet. Here you can sit on the deck overlooking the beach and watch whales (in season).

Day 2 to 4: Diving Zavora

Today is the first of 3 diving days at Zavora. Most dives at Zavora result in manta sightings. The reefs in general are in excellent condition. They have an abundance of marine life such as 5 Species of Turtle, over 80 species of Nudibranchs with 4 species not even named yet. Eels, a friendly Potato Bass and much more. The big things to see here of course include the Humpback Whales and Manta Rays. In season you will hear Humpback Whales on nearly every dive and always have a chance of seeing one when on scuba. Many times, when surfacing after a dive you will notice that you are not too far from one of these amazing giants. They can he very curious and so we simply need to observe when the opportunity presents itself. On the way to the dive sites from June – September we will be seeing Whales all the time and many times will have to manoeuvre around them.

Day 5: Last dives and transfer to Praia do Tofo

Today you will do your final 2 dives and then say goodbye to the Whales and mantas of Zavora as you head off to Tofo, the Whale Shark capital of Africa. Here you will check into your luxury Guesthouse where you have your own spacious unit consisting of a patio area, bedroom, and bathroom.

The suite is luxurious and modern and has stunning views over the ocean and is only a stone’s throw from Tofo beach and Dive centre. Once you have checked in you can go and check out the dive centre where they will help you sort out your diving gear and inform you of the diving schedule for your stay.

Day 6 to 8: Diving Praia do Tofo

Whilst staying at Tofo you have 6 dives and I whale shark safari included. Spend two days diving and on the last day you can focus on the whale shark snorkelling. During the interval of the double tank dives of day 1 and 2, you will also be looking for whale sharks. On the double tank dives, you will have the opportunity to swim with the Whale sharks and the crew will actively look out for them. The diving in Tofo is excellent in general. Manta Reef offers an estimated 80% success rate of seeing mantas whilst the marine life on this reef is still exceptional. There are also many other reefs in the area that have Manta cleaning stations and the crew will inform you of the hotspots when you meet them to discuss your dives. What is also unique about Tofo is its growing population of Small Eyed Stingrays known as the biggest rays in the world! They have only been seen elsewhere dead or pulled up by fishermen and Tofo is proud to boast a healthy population of these rare rays!

Day 9: Whale Shark Safari

Today is your chance to focus on one thing: swimming with a giant whale shark! Enjoy 2 hours that is dedicated to locating and then swimming with the gentle giants. In season it only takes a few minutes before you get into the water with your first whale shark. You can expect to swim with several whale sharks per safari when visiting the right time of year. November to March is normally an excellent time to come although Whale Sharks are seen all year round in Tofo.

Day 10: Depart Praia do Tofo and fly back to Johannesburg, South Africa

Today is your last day on your Mozambican dive adventure. After breakfast, you set off to the airport at Inhambane to catch your return flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. Remember to get the famous Peri-Peri sauce and cashew nuts on your way there.
